Workout of the Week – 01/11/2016

@missfit_____ on Instagram

This week’s workout was submitted by Maseeha.
IMG_7548
IMG_7549
Maseeha began her fitness journey when she was 17 years old , she is now 19… She remembers her mom would buy her the Woman’s Health Magazine just so she could get the free exercise videos inside. She would then exercise in the comfort of her own lounge. hehe! She remembers looking at the woman in the videos and thinking… wow it would feel really great to look so toned…and that’s what she did, she continued her home exercise routine which helped her tone up and feel good about herself.
She then started going to the gym with her brother and began her weight training journey… she started to follow some of her favourite athletes on Instagram and read up on their workout routines, she would look up exercises on bodybuilding.com and “TRY” to mimic them herself… As she started seeing some results, she felt more motivated and training simply became apart of her. She was grateful for the friends she made who were professional athletes, as they were able to guide her here and there and answer some questions of hers… for example teaching her to train separate muscles groups on different days rather than doing continuous full body workouts…
She carried on with her training , had a few training partners, learned new things on a daily basis, gained a little bit of muscle here and there and carried on with what she “thought” training hard and eating clean was” …and then everything changed!
Her fitness journey did a 360 degree change in the best way possible! She met her coach who is now one of her closest friends, and daily motivation John Lucas (Gentle Giant) . She was immediately able to see why John is an international fitness personality and one of South Africa’s top sponsored athletes, (besides the fact that he is 6 Foot 5, weighing 138 kg with a body fat of 4% )(yip.. its insane she knows!) he is one of the most inspiring and motivating people she has ever met… He is truly a Gentle Giant.
It was after John taught her the Giant Connection principle, and what eating clean actually meant she was able to start her journey of sculpting her physique and see the results she wanted.
What she then realized was before, she would go into the gym and lift some weights for about an hour and a half to two hours.. where as, now she goes into the gym for about 45 minutes to an hour max! and has a much harder and much more intense session.. this is because she is learning how to connect with that specific muscle group that she is training. More importantly he has taught her the importance of diet… all that time she thought she was eating clean because something sounded healthy “yoghurts, fruits, rice cake and peanut butter with a little treat a day'” changed to her current diet where she eats 5 to 6 meals a day with the right amount of protein, carbs and vegetables for her body and her goals.
Most Importantly John has taught her that if she wants to succeed and reach her goals, she will need to be disciplined, making sure she gets her meals in , making sure she has her cheat day on a Sunday; not when she feels like it ..because she’s out with friends and they are all enjoying some chocolate cake. Making sure that she stays motivated , patient and becomes a little stronger (physically and mentally) everyday.
One of the most important things fitness has taught her is the importance of hard work , commitment and self love. At the end of the day its up to you, and you only to make your dreams come true, to sculpt that physique you always wanted..

Workout of the Week – 01/04/2016

@m.c.fitgirl on Instagram

This week’s workout was submitted by Manuela.
Manuela is from Germany and moved to the USA 9 years ago. She gained a lot of weight and was very unhappy, unhealthy and depressed. 3 years ago she decided to change her life. She changed her diet and started exercising. After losing some weight, she felt brave enough to join a gym and fell in love with Zumba fitness. She continued to exercise and eat healthy. She became a AFAA certified fitness instructor and Zumba Zin instructor. She teaches at the same gym that helped her change her life 3 years ago. She stared lifting weights in addition to Zumba and competed in her first NPC competition in October 2015. Her next NPC show is planned for April 2016.

image2
The gym is her therapy and happy place. She works full time as a Medical Assistant but continues to teach and train daily. Her goal for 2016 is to complete her NASM personal trainer certification and work full time in the industry she’s so passionate about. Her total weight loss ended up being 79lbs. She is a changed person and wants to motivate and inspire people. She is the happiest when she can help and support people reaching their fitness goals.

Workout of the Week – 12/28/2015

@ifbbprokyfit on Instagram

This week’s workout is by IFBB Pro Kalli.
Kalli is a fitness/diet/prep coach, YouTuber, Breaking Muscle Writer, Popeye’s Athlete, and won 1st Place in the 2015 NPC North Americans.
IMG_4326
Kalli spent 3 years of working towards her dreams every single day. She always says her work ethic is a double edge sword as she thinks the characteristics that force her work ethic are the same ones that make it hard for her to enjoy her success because she is always focused on being better, and it’s impossible to be satisfied. In this sport and in this industry, she thinks it’s impossible to be successful if you’re ever truly satisfied as the drive to achieve greatness is what keeps the best pushing. When she started this sport, she accepted that she would have to become used to never being satisfied – meaning that she will always want to be better and do more no matter what level of success she achieves, but it’s the mindset that pushes her daily. She hopes she can inspire and motivate others to push for their dreams every single day in the new year!

Workout of the Week – 12/21/2015

@chandlernicoll on Instagram

This week’s workout was submitted by Chandler Grady, 23 years old living in Colorado.
Chandler’s workout is a bunch of leg/booty workouts great for a light day!
image1-1
image2
Chandler has always been very active playing sports throughout high school and college but at the same time was very underweight and sick. She couldn’t gain weight, because of this growing up she went through situations that beat her down until she hit rock bottom. She thought she was going to be this sick, weak little thing…..Then she found weightlifting, well it was more first she tried out the gym(cardio mostly) then gradually moved towards weight lifting and it saved her life. She has been heavy lifting for about a year now and has gained around 30 lbs. While her husband was deployed this year she realized how much she loved hiking as well, a great way to stay healthy and be in the beautiful Colorado mountains. She fell in love with this lifestyle because of what it did for her physically and mentally which is why she is currently working towards becoming a personal trainer through NASM. She can’t wait to start helping others with their fitness journeys!

Workout of the Week – 12/14/2015

@ayanafit on Instagram

Ayana has never had any concerns about her body and health as she was a skinny girl who would eat what she wanted any time of the day without any consequences. She had never thought about exercising and changing her lifestyle until she arrived in the USA for grad school. She started noticing flabbiness in her arms, tummy, and thighs, and signs of cellulite! She guesses change of place, food, and stress worked their ‘miracle’.
IMG_6336
IMG_7635 (1)
Her husband, boyfriend at that time, has always been active and athletic, he helped her start exercising and taught her what to do at the gym without feeling lost and awkward! It’s been almost 2.5 years and she is a fitness fanatic now. The most difficult obstacle was being persistent and fighting laziness in the beginning of the journey. She now thinks about future her instead of indulging right now. She wants to be a healthy old lady in 40 years and enjoy her life without worrying about health problems. Another obstacle – self doubt and insecurity: looking at those ‘perfect’ Instagram girls with toned bodies in sexy bikinis used to make her so angry and sad. She just changed her perspective: she looks at those same ladies and gets inspired instead. She is currently in the process of bootybuilding – that is why she focuses more on leg and booty exercises. She started her fitness Instagram page to inspire and get inspired by promoting ordinary people like herself and connecting everybody with same goals, aspirations, and lifestyle.

Workout of the Week – 12/07/2015

@veronica.poppilates on Instagram

This week’s workout was submitted by Veronica, 27 years old from Italy.
Veronica has been overweight most of her life, with a difficult relationship with food and a total lack of confidence and self-esteem. She has never been really “active”. She actually hated Physical Education so much that when she was in school, she always made excuses to skip it. As she grew up she felt like she was stuck in a life that gave her no satisfactions at all, she was unhappy, She hated her body, and she hated her job, but what made me feel the worst was that she didn’t have any passions or dreams to follow.
Veronica3
Her life began to change two years ago, when she came across Blogilates videos on Youtube. This cute, smiling girl named Cassey Ho made working out look so funny and her positivity was contagious. She started working out with her POP Pilates videos 5 to 6 days per week, and she completely changed her eating habits. Results started to show because hard work always pays off and that’s how she’s become “addicted” to fitness. She’s lost over 44 lbs, gained more confidence and became stronger, healthier and happier.
Veronica4
She’s started her fitness account on Instagram this summer because she wanted to share her results with other women and inspire them to live at their full potential because settling is never an option! She feels really blessed that she’s finally found something that really passions her so much! POP Pilates is not just a regular workout: it is funny, upbeat and energetic! Every session looks like a “dance on the mat” and it leaves everyone sweating, sore and SMILING!
Veronica1
Once you find what makes you feel happy in life you should simply go for it! POP Pilates has completely changed who she thought she was! That’s why she’s currently training to become a POP Pilates Instructor. What you get you give back, that’s how life works!

This week’s workout was submitted by Danielle! Her video is for shoulders and legs, featuring her squats and seated military press.
Danielle was always the chunky girl until she met my husband 5 years ago; at her heaviest, she was 195lbs at just 5’6.5″. This transformation photo was from 2012 to now!
Danielle 2
He was completely into fitness, able to eat anything he wanted and still keep his abs. Her fitness journey began after they moved to California and they both cleaned up their acts in terms of health. He began body building, and she tried both figure and bikini competitions when they moved to Germany on military orders. Danielle is a nanny on the side, but she is currently working on building more muscle to step back on the bikini stage in the late summer or fall of 2016. Her current weight is 135 and she’s never felt better. At 60lbs lost and off for 8 years, she is confident in her ability to make healthy choices and practice discipline to push towards her goals. She believes that if you work hard enough, even in the face of the most negative days, you are bound to do anything you want. Her husband is the reason she pushes herself every day to do what she loves and reaches for goals that seem impossible. “I a woman with muscle, and I LOVE IT.”
